Surprisingly email had originated from a Brazilian website - www.irmaossoares.com.br and Reply To address was - rbi_customer01service@hotmail.com . There was an attachment, a MS Word file titled Office of the Reserve Bank Of India. I downloaded that attachment and its contents are listed below. I felt like sharing this with all of you as such emails are used by certain elements to siphon money off accounts. So if you ever receive such emails, take a printout for future reference and mark them as spam.

    1. Dear Yusuf,

I think you might need to contact local police station to put this issue through right channel. From what I know, CBI does not take up these cases directly. For further clarifications you can also check with local CBI office.

Please note that Royal Bank of Scotland and British High Commission might not be a part of it. Crooks might have used names of these institution in their email to make it sound authentic. Be careful next time.

Could you please share entire episode with us, so that others can be warned as well?

      Regards,

      Vishal Kansagra
